True story.

This week we celebrate Small Business Week (April 28th-May 4th).

Also, true story.

National Administrative Professionals Day was on April 24th.

This past week I started my week of travels from Pigeon Forge for Women of Joy to Staunton, Virginia to hang out with my daughter at her campus, and now I’m back at home cuddled next to my grandboy for the night. I started this past week not realizing that it was Small Business Week. Traveling, working (but scheduling my work and my life the way I choose), and spending time with my people.

I started my small business nearly six years ago. It’s been my only income for six years. As a single mom who finished raising her kids on her own and still has a family at home, my kids and I don’t go without realizing the impact small businesses have on our communities, our world, our lives. I started my business because I felt I had a purpose. It seemed everyone kept telling me I was good at what I do, and I was able to go full-time with it in three short, but very busy months.

Am I going to tell you that having a small business or owning your own business is easy? Nope. It’s not merely setting your own schedule and just living life and going about life without a responsibility in the world. I have more responsibilities now than I would if I was working in a corporate setting. And, my people will tell you I a lot of the time work harder than I would in a corporate setting. But, I get to schedule how my work and life go, so I have the freedom with time to live the life I want and enjoy all it has to offer and I’m thankful for that.

With us also celebrating Administrative Professionals in April, I’m honored that administrative tasks are some of the important tasks I do for my clients and I’m grateful for each and every client.

And, with this being Small Business Week it just seems fitting that I now announce that I went from self-employed to I am now Incorporated. If you told me back in 2018 I would go from a Doing Business As to an Incorporated business, I would’ve probably had my doubts. But, God, my people, and my clients support have shown that it truly is possible. And, I’m so grateful.

🛏️ Making my bed daily, 🚶 exercising even if for a short while, and 🤲 reminders I’m ready to embrace wholeheartedly. Oh, and creating a written budget! 💸 It’s all about setting a financial path for the year, ensuring each dollar works smartly for us.
